Ethics

Many of us perform good acts at times, unselfish deeds, the motive is usually to feel good about oneself, increased self worth is sufficent recompense for the sacrifice, usually small. None believe their deed will substantially help the recipient, or improve society, it is  token symbolism nothing more. Such deeds do not permanently  help the recipient or impoverish or harm the giver, they are ethically trivial and mean nothing. Example? Paying to the church, temple, masjd, to the orphans fund. But society approves of such acts. Are there good unselfish deeds which peramnetly help the recipients yet meet society's disapproval, only of elite society's? Deeds which substantially, permanently  benefit a large number of persons? Yes. I will spell them out.
