Nouns can be concrete or abstract. Concrete are those which can be felt only by the senses while abstract ones are expererienced by the mind only. The higher desires, good and bad, are only abstract. Affection and apprecaition of beauty are purely abstract whle hatred and greed are negative but abstract. The person wanting to be ethical cultivates a taste for abstract appetites, such as desire to benefit others materially.
